life begins

Started off the weekend by going to the Picasso's collection exhibition at GOMA on Saturday. I was a bit disappointed in the exhibition because there was too much Picasso and not enough of his collection. I am not really a fan of Picasso. It's a bit too harsh for me. I understand why he was doing it etc. but I still don't like it :-)

On a brighter note, the Sidney Nolan room at the QAG is fantastic! I really love his paintings. The colours he used are amazing. I have not really looked at them properly before, but seeing them all together was fantastic.

It was a good start to being a full-time artist though. I am going to enter a couple of competitions and apply for a grant in the next month. I need to get back into the art writing and reading :-)

It's all about ME

I finished up my graphic design job on Friday. Actually I am finished with graphic design.
Lying to myself is no good. It just makes me unhappy. It took me long enough to learn the lesson. But thank god I did, and just in time. Life's too short.

His pockets contained everything he was able to abstract from the apartment.

I think a lot of people are under the impression that my art is largely abstract. This is not the case. The cadastral base maps I use in my paintings are not abstracted at all. They are accurate, to scale, maps.

My art is conceptual.
