Moreton Bay Regional art award

I finished! put my entry in yesterday for the Moreton Bay awards.

Doing tax stuff today. I've been putting it off for so long. It will be good to just get it over with. Tonight the Clayton Utz traveling scholarship opens at the Clayton Utz offices at Riparian plaza. Hopefully I'll get a photo of the place where it's at. My other painting is at Carter Newell at the reception :-) Maybe I should go there and take a photo also.

Still looking forward to uni next week. On Sunday we're having an intensive training day for roller derby. It should be good too.

Archibald 2009

Archibald 2009 paintings

I reckon Ars longa, vita brevis by Michael Zavros will win because it is so different. Or maybe Nell by Abbey McCulloch. I also like Portrait of a bad muthaf***a by Mike Chavez.

Uni

At the moment I am working on a painting for the Moreton Bay Region Art Awards. This is it nearly finished.
I really need to finish it by tomorrow :-) It is due by Friday so I will have to send my application by express post.

I am so looking forward to going back to uni next week. It's all I can think about. Everyone thinks I am crazy but I really enjoy the challenge.

Busy

Wow, this week has been so busy. Wednesday the opening of Artworkers Award, Friday the Kirra Jamison opening at Jan Murphy and Lynden Stone at Edwina Corlette and then last night the opening of the group show I am in at 19 Karen on the Gold Coast. I am stuffed :-)

This week I have 3 openings I want to go to:
Thursday night the opening of the Clayton Utz travelling scholarship exhibition that moved to the Clayton Utz offices, Friday night Boxcopy at Metro arts and lastly, Glen Skein is having a closing night at the College gallery at QCA.

This week I am also doing a bit of gallery attendant duties at the Artworkers Exhibition at the Metro. and then uni is back on next week!

looking forward to uni

Spent yesterday volunteering at Artworkers to help install the Artworkers award. It took all day and it isn't finished. I think there were about 250 paintings. I saw a lot of work from people I recognised and work by friends also. Today I have sore muscles from bending down and reaching up :-) my ribs are all sore. It was a good experience. I am on the bar on the opening night so if you're there say hi :-)

I think I will go into uni today and see which space I have been allocated. I start back in about 2 weeks. I need to start taking in all my stuff. I will take a few goes I think :-)

Dreamy dreams

I had a dream last night that someone at uni was stealing my ideas and presenting them as their own. I told them that I knew and they said they didn't care because nobody would believe me, as I had been away for so long nobody knew me. Then I threatened her.

Geez

I wonder what I would do if someone actually did steal my ideas. I think I would be pretty upset if they intentionally did it. That's just being lazy.

Sterf II

Took in my entry for the artworkers award this morning and my painting for the leasing arrangement. Geez I hate driving. There are so many aggressive arseholes on the road these days.

Got my first Art World subscription yesterday. My husband gave it to me for xmas. Very exciting. I haven't been in much of a writing mood at the moment. Had a bit of anxiety lately and my attention span is very short. It's amazing how these things can affect you.

Leasing artwork

I got some good news today. One of my paintings is going to be leased for 12 months to some lawyers in the city. This is through Artworkers alliance. I get paid a percentage of the cost of the painting and get the painting back in 12 months. Maybe someone will like it enough to buy it. The painting is going to be in the reception area of the office so lots of people will see my work. I am really happy that they liked it. This is the first time I have done this.
