End of semester soon

it's 4 weeks til the end of semester. I have everything under control at the moment but just knowing it is nearly the end of semester makes me stressed. I hope I don't forget anything, can I push my ideas further?, if I push them further now will i have anywhere to go next semester? I am probably worrying about nothing :-) I hope.

I made a strainer

At high school I wanted to do woodwork, metal work and graphics, but I wasn't allowed to, because I was a girl...

Today I made this strainer in the workshop at uni, by myself, with no help whatsoever. I am so proud that I did it correctly and it is very sturdy. It will last a lifetime :-) I will be making one per week till the end of semester. It is so much cheaper to make them. Cheaper and better than buying the stretchers from the art shop and putting them together.

A stretch of road between nowhere and nowhere

title: A stretch of road between nowhere and nowhere
medium: Acrylic on canvas
size: 120cm x 160cm
year: 2009

This painting is a combination of the orientation paintings and the night terror paintings. It has turned out well I reckon. The tracks look a bit like string. I am liking this effect.

Tomorrow I am making two more strainers and probably going to finish off another painting that is half done at uni. Just haven't got around to that one yet.

I dropped off my entry for the prometheus this morning.

Black light

I was so surprised at how much the Night terror paintings glow with the black light. It is so cool! can't wait for end of semester critique so I can take a photo of the finished piece. or maybe I could book the white box in a couple of weeks and do it early

Woo hoo. i got into the Clayton Utz Travelling Scholarship again this year. I would really like to win it so I can go to the US. lol! I will have to cross my fingers and toes.

The painting above was chosen. I'm supposed to present it as part of my end of semester critique but I won't be able to as the painting will be shown at the Clayton Utz office for a year. The exhibition is on at Metro Arts on Edward street, Brisbane from 2nd June – 12th June 2009.
