roller derby holiday

Uni starts back next week and I am going to Las Vegas tomorrow :-) I am going to a roller derby convention (rollercon). I can't wait. Hopefully I will come back in one piece. While I am there I am going to hire a car and take lots of photos of the suburbs over there. Las Vegas is a place where development is at it’s most unregulated within a first-world nation. It should make good reference material for new work.

Last week I prepared in advance so that I wouldn't be behind at uni. I made 5 new strainers, 3 - 160 x 120 and 2 120 x 120. I will probably be doing a lot of very small canvases also.

looking forward to going back and finally graduating. although I plan on doing honours next year :-)

Mural finished

I finished the mural this morning. I am really happy with the outcome. I just have to come up with a title. I have 3 options at the moment. but I will think about it over the weekend. On monday I will go in and pick up my ladders and take off the masking tape. A photographer is taking some photos next week to document it and they are even putting a little plaque on it with the title and my name :-)

Such a great experience. I hope they ask me to do more work in the future :-)

The mural continues

I did the white map layer today. it took about 7 hours. i got in at about 7am and I finished just before 2pm. I didn't realise how long i actually worked today. i like getting in there really early. The time in the morning seems to go faster for some reason :-)

Thursday night I am going to the New Order opening at Redcliffe Gallery that my friend Emma Lindsay curated. It will be really great. I helped with the catalogue and dl invite. Hopefully I will see you there.

Mural continued

Nearly got all the black done today. I should finish that pretty quickly on Monday and then move on to the map layers. looking good!

First colour done on mural

I am so tired. i have been starting at 7am. Yesterday I painted till 8pm and today I finished at 3pm. I have got the first colour done. Tomorrow i fill in the white with black. hopefully it will only need one coat and then I can start on the map layers next week
